ITV is backing up an sparkling new play about an unlawful attribute called Liar, featuring a stellar cast.

Fans of Downton will no doubt recognize Anna Bates’ alter-ego Joanne Froggatt in the lead, and the intriguing grounds will no doubt draw in viewers. Here’s what we know about it…

What is Liar and when is it on ITV?

Liar is a code new six-part thriller starring Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt.

Her categorical co-star is Welsh Fantastic Four star Ioan Gruffudd.

Written by Bafta-winning Harry and Jack Williams, it began filming in 2016.

A trailer for the show aired on the channel in Jul 2017.

The tab line for the show is a quote by Aesop, which reads: “Every law has two sides; it is as good to demeanour at both, before we dedicate to either.”

It’s set to air in the autumn on ITV.

What is Liar about?

Liar tells the story of a teacher who is swept up into a intrigue with a surgeon whose son studies at her school.

They go on a date and that singular night “changes their lives forever”.

A matter on the story reads: “Neither entirely realises the inclusive consequences that their assembly will have on any other or their families.

“Truth and consequences go palm in palm in a gripping thriller that examines both sides of a attribute and both sides of the truth.”

The play is also set to yield a “21st-century take on modern-day gender politics” as good as being a “compelling romantic thriller”.

Who stars in the show?

Joanne Froggatt stars as the teacher Laura, while Ioan Gruffudd plays the surgeon Andrew.

Liar also stars Zoe Tapper as Katy, Warren Brown as Tom, Richie Campbell as Liam and Shelley Conn as Vanessa.

Seeing as Froggatt has played some dim roles in her time, many recently personification sequence torpedo Mary Ann Cotton, it’s satisfactory to assume the show will venture into some ghastly territory.
