The mythological actor and filmmaker gave the ultimate analogy when he likened the artistic routine of having an thought about a film to producing it, to feeling like being sick.

The 80-year-old, who you substantially remember for all the wrong reasons at this year’s Oscars, came on The Graham Norton Show to speak about his arriving light romantic comedy set in the 1950s, Rules Don’t Apply.

Rules Don’t Apply is his first film that he’s destined in 15 years as he’s been bustling holding a mangle ‘negotiating’ with his ‘four tiny European countries’ – the pronounced countries being his 4 kids.

But now that he’s finally got back to directing, he described his adore hatred attribute in a waggish way.

He explained: ‘I don’t know if we pronounced to you but we have infrequently compared making a film to vomiting. we don’t like to vomit, we frequency vomit.

‘But something builds up and you consider about it for a prolonged time and you don’t do anything you try to equivocate working. And then finally you contend “Ok maybe I’ll just feel better if we chuck up” and then you make a movie.’

And of course, Graham Norton had to ask him about that barbarous Oscar moment which he pronounced he thought was ‘maybe a misprint’ when he saw the card.

When the presenter then asked if that ungainly moment was all people could speak about after the event, he quipped: ‘No, that’s not true. People speak about themselves.’

The Graham Norton Show is back Apr 21 at 10.35pm on BBC One, with ex-One Direction star Harry Styles behaving his new singular Sign Of The Times.
